Photography Competition

Greater Shepparton City Council and the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre recently held a competition looking for the best photographs that celebrate the "Many Great Things" in our region.

Open to Greater Shepparton residents of all ages and photography abilities, the "Where I Live" photography competition invited entrants to capture the spirit of Greater Shepparton. This could include landscape, flora and fauna, native animals, streetscape, local attractions and all things unique to our region.

All finalists photos will be displayed at the new Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre, and the winner receives a Greater Shepparton gift hamper!

Terms and Conditions

Where I Live - Greater Shepparton Photography Competition

The promoter is: Greater Shepparton City Council ABN: 59 835 329 843 whose registered office is at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton VIC 3632. In conjunction with the Shepparton Visitor Centre. 59 835 329 843 Whose registered office is at 33 Nixon Street, Shepparton VIC 3630

Employees of Greater Shepparton City Council and the Shepparton Visitor Centre and their immediate family members are ineligible to enter the competition. This competition is open exclusively to Greater Shepparton residents. People residing outside the Greater Shepparton municipality are ineligible for this competition. 

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to win prizes.

Entry dates are Monday 4 January 8am to Sunday 7 February 5:00pm. After this date no further submissions will be entered into the competition.

No responsibility can be accepted for entries received after the above mentioned closing date.

Entry into the competition requires entrants to post a photo to the Shepparton & Goulburn Valley Facebook page. The photo will be submitted to the Shepparton & Goulburn Valley Facebook Page and deemed appropriate before it is released and posted to the page. Alternatively, entrants can email info@sheppandgv.com.au with their image and short description and contact details.

By submitting their entry, entrants (or their parents/guardians if under 18) are granting Greater Shepparton City Council permission to use the photo in marketing and promotions. Facebook's Terms & Conditions must also be adhered to.

To be eligible, photos submitted must capture the "Many Great Things" that comprise of Greater Shepparton. Entrants are to capture the spirit of the Greater Shepparton region; this can include landscapes, flora and fauna, native animals, streetscapes, local attractions and things unique to Greater Shepparton. Photos must be taken in the period of the competition and any photos which have been entered in a previously organised Council competition will not be considered for entry.

The promoter reserves the right to cancel these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

The prizes are:

  • Finalist:
    All finalists will receive a canvas print of their image to be displayed at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre once moved into their new location by Victoria Park Lake. Finalist will be able to keep their prints after the display period - a date will be determined at a later time.
  • First Prize:
    Will receive a gift hamper made up of local produce and merchandise to the value of $67

There will be a formal presentation of the competition display once Shepparton Visitor Centre moves into their new location. Dates are to be determined at a later date. Finalists will be notified once confirmed.  

No cash alternative to the prize will be offered. The prize is not transferable.

The winner will be notified by their submitted contact details, by a phone call or Facebook message. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

Winners will be chosen by a select group of three judging panellists. The winners will be announced via a Facebook post on the Shepparton & Goulburn Valley Facebook page on Monday 22 February 2021.

The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by Victorian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current Greater Shepparton City Council data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

By entering this competition the entrant is allowing Greater Shepparton City Council to use their information for future marketing purposes.

You are providing your information to Greater Shepparton City Council and not to any other party. The information provided will be used in conjunction with the Privacy Policy specified in the Local Government Act 1989.
