Bronze: Our tourism excellence shines bright

Greater Shepparton City Council was awarded Bronze in the Local Government Award for Tourism at the Victorian Tourism Awards hosted by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC).

The annual state tourism awards celebrate businesses and organisations that meet and exceed industry standards and play an integral role in acknowledging business excellence together with outstanding innovation, industry professionalism and collaboration.

The award submission showcased the achievements and commitment to tourism made by the Greater Shepparton City Council across 2022/23, including the launch of our new destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley and production of the new Official Visitor Guide, support for the industry following the 2022 floods and collaboration with surrounding LGA’s via the Goulburn Region Tourism Partnership.

Congratulations also goes to Carrie and Luis from The Storekeeper's House who were a finalist and achieved the status of 'Highly Commended' for the Self Contained Accommodation category. As well as Goulburn region visitor economy businesses Rambling Wine Tours, finalist in the Tour and Transport Operator category and Go Adventure Nagambie dual Gold award winners in the Adventure Tourism and Tourism, Retail, Hire and Services categories.

Winners and Finalists of the Victorian Tourism Awards are determined by achieving a score of 70% or above. The winner is the highest scoring entrant in each category. Hall of Fame is awarded to an entrant that has won the same category over three consecutive years. And the Highly Commended recognition are given to finalists that have not won an award but scored over 80%.
