From Arnhem Land’s bark art of the 1940s, the desert art of 70’s and 80’s to today’s initiatives that include emergent themes for collectors, in south east, northern Victoria and beyond.

Susan McCulloch is a Victorian-based art writer, author, publisher, speaker, curator and art consultant. She is co-author and publisher of McCulloch’s Encyclopedia of Contemporary Aboriginal Art: the complete guide and co-director of the art company McCulloch and McCulloch. She has been both a book publisher and feature art writer for major newspapers since 1978 including for 11 years as The Australian’s visual arts writer and national art critic.

Susan has had a longstanding interest in Aboriginal art and culture and travels widely to many art-producing communities throughout Australia on a regular basis.

In 2011, she received the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to publishing and writing and in 2013 was appointed adjunct professor at RMIT. She is based in the artistically-significant family home gallery, Whistlewood, at Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula.

Yurri Catering will serve delicious, indigenous-inspired food platters and a variety of light and alcoholic refreshments to accompany an illustrated presentation by Susan McCulloch OAM and a silent art auction featuring ten Kaiela Arts artists.
