Set in 2007, soldier Dean Turner returns from Afghanistan to his small hometown of Dookie with his wounded and PTSD suffering comrade Steve. Dean hopes Dookie will be a good place for his mate's recovery.

In the meantime the local community have entered an orchestral competition hoping to win enough money to build a memorial to commemorate their WW1 fallen in time for the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day. Just one problem... They don’t have an orchestra!

Funny, emotional and powerful. Dookie - The Musical explores the effects of war on soldiers, families and refugees, and pays a moving tribute to the WWI honour roll of the small town of Dookie.

This is an original Shepparton Theatre Arts Group production, incorporating the Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra in partnership with Riverlinks.

Following on from the sell-out season of the play Dookie in 2016, the story has now been developed into a musical with the book by John Head and the score and lyrics by Wade Gregory and Helen Rankin.
