The caravan residency is designed to capture and record stories of a small micro area of Shepparton in March 2017, engaging with the temporarily, permanently, and seasonal residents at Secura Lifestyle.
The residency will consist of an onsite Villa being transformed in an onsite artist residency. The villa will become a festival space. Participating artists are invited to explore the social and cultural conditions of place through their chosen mediums, documenting individual memories and personal experiences. By locating the artists in a local caravan (holiday) park the project opens a dialogue about the sense of place, home, destination, and accommodation. The residency creates a space for the artists to document the shifting terrain of private narratives within larger social spaces – the caravan provides a moment in everyday life.
